International flights are not included in the price of any of our trips — and how to get to India is one of the questions we hear most often. Which routes work from Europe, how long does it take, is a non-stop flight worth paying extra for, and what actually happens when you land in Delhi at three in the morning? Below we answer in turn. We deliberately do not quote fares: they change from week to week, and any figure written today would be wrong tomorrow.
Most trips to northern India start in Delhi. From Europe you either fly non-stop — from a handful of capitals, such as London or Warsaw — or with one connection, either at a European hub (Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Istanbul) or in the Gulf (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi). A connection makes the journey longer, but it opens up far more departure cities and times.
Only a few European cities have non-stop flights to Delhi. Two examples:
One thing worth knowing: since April 2025 Pakistan has kept its airspace closed to Indian airlines, so Air India and IndiGo flights to Europe take longer routes than before. Check the scheduled duration when you compare options.
All the large carriers with hubs in Europe and the Gulf fly to Delhi. You fly to the hub, change, and continue. Total journey time depends mostly on the length of the connection — expect it to be noticeably longer than a non-stop flight.
| Airline | Hub | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Emirates | Dubai | a wide choice of times, several flights a day to Delhi |
| Qatar Airways | Doha | daily flights to Delhi, smooth connections |
| Etihad | Abu Dhabi | several flights a day to Delhi |
| Turkish Airlines | Istanbul | daily Delhi flights and a very large European network |
| Lufthansa | Frankfurt, Munich | a European connection, no flying over the Gulf |
| Austrian Airlines | Vienna | a European connection; seasonal, several times a week |
| LOT Polish Airlines | Warsaw | a European connection with a Dreamliner to Delhi |
As of October 2026. Networks and frequencies change with the seasons — check the airline's timetable for your dates before you book.
Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad fly to Delhi several times a day, so it is easy to pick an arrival time. In fairness, though: air traffic over the Middle East was repeatedly disrupted in 2026. Because of armed conflict in the region, parts of its airspace were closed at times, and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued conflict-zone warnings to EU operators covering the Persian Gulf. The hubs are operating, but before booking a Gulf connection, check the current situation and the rebooking conditions of your fare.
Lufthansa flies to Delhi from Frankfurt and Munich, Austrian Airlines from Vienna, Turkish Airlines daily from Istanbul and LOT from Warsaw. A good choice if you prefer to connect in Europe. Bear in mind that arrival times in Delhi on these routes often fall at night too.
We do not give fare ranges, because we do not want to publish numbers that will not be true next month. A few rules hold regardless of price:
Not sure which programme to choose? The classic first trip is Pearls of North India — 12 days, Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Khajuraho and Varanasi, with a tour leader. We will also help you match your flight to the first day of the programme.
Send me the programmeMost nationalities need a visa arranged before departure — for tourism usually an e-visa. Who needs one and how to apply is covered in do you need a visa for India. Since 1 October 2025 foreign nationals must also complete an e-Arrival Card — online or in the official app, within 72 hours before arrival. Do it before you leave for the airport, not in the queue.
After landing: passport control with your e-visa, baggage reclaim, customs. Queues may be shorter at night, but allow time for waiting.
The programme begins with arrival in Delhi and ends with departure from Delhi, so you are looking for a return ticket on the same dates. Before you buy, send us your flight numbers — we will check the times fit the programme. The exception is the short trips from Goa: there the starting point is your beach hotel, and the road transfer or domestic flights are part of the programme — more in side trips from Goa. If this is your first visit, read first time in India as well.
Non-stop, LOT's Warsaw–Delhi flight is scheduled at about 7 hours 35 minutes and London–Delhi at roughly ten hours. With one connection in Europe or the Gulf the whole journey takes longer, depending mainly on the length of the layover.
Only a few. London Heathrow has non-stop flights with Air India, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, and Warsaw with LOT Polish Airlines. From most other cities you fly with one connection, in Europe or in the Gulf.
No. Our programme prices cover the part of the trip on the ground, and you book the international flight separately. We help you choose a connection that fits the first and last day of the programme.
We do not quote figures, because fares change from week to week and depend on dates, airline and fare type. Check them with the airline or a flight search engine on the day you book, and buy only once your trip dates are confirmed.
Have your e-visa ready and complete the e-Arrival Card in advance, within 72 hours before arrival. In our programmes day 1 is arrival and a transfer to the hotel; if you fly on a different flight from the group, confirm when booking whether the transfer covers your arrival.
The Gulf hubs are operating, but in 2026 the region's airspace was closed several times and EASA issued warnings to airlines. Check current advisories and your fare's rebooking conditions before you buy. Alternatives are a non-stop flight or a connection in Europe.
The programme on the ground, a tour leader and an airport transfer in Delhi. We will suggest which connection fits your trip dates.
