On this carefully crafted journey we discover the greatest treasures of North India — from the vibrant energy of Delhi, through the royal palaces of Rajasthan and the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal, to the carved temples of Khajuraho and mystical Varanasi on the sacred Ganges. A journey for those who want to see this country at its most fascinating — in comfort, at an unhurried pace, and in the care of an English-speaking tour leader.

Itinerary

12 days, day by day

Day 1

Arrival in Delhi

Arrival in India’s capital, welcome by our team, transfer to the hotel and a gentle first taste of the country’s rhythm.

Day 2

Old and New Delhi

Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, the Red Fort, India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar.

Day 3

Delhi → Jaipur

Drive to the Pink City, then visits to the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory and the Albert Hall Museum.

Day 4

Jaipur: Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal

The Palace of Winds, the majestic Amber Fort, the Jal Mahal water palace and a traditional block-printing workshop.

Day 5

Jaipur → Fatehpur Sikri → Agra

En route, a visit to Akbar’s abandoned capital of Fatehpur Sikri, then onwards to Agra.

Day 6

Agra → Orchha

The Taj Mahal at sunrise, Agra Fort and the “Baby Taj”, then a drive to the hidden gem of Orchha on the Betwa River.

Day 7

Orchha → Khajuraho

The Jahangir Mahal and Raja Mahal palaces, the Lakshmi Narayan temple and the riverside cenotaphs, then a drive to Khajuraho.

Day 8

Khajuraho — masterpieces of architecture

A tour of the famous UNESCO-listed temple complex, adorned with masterful carvings, followed by time at leisure.

Day 9

Khajuraho → Varanasi (flight)

Flight to India’s spiritual capital and the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Day 10

Varanasi and Sarnath

A sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, the old town and its temples, and the Buddhist site of Sarnath.

Day 11

Varanasi → Delhi (flight)

Return to Delhi, then a trip into Old Delhi for a Street Food Tour with dinner.

Day 12

Delhi — departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and the end of the journey.

What you never have to worry about

The price does not include: international flights, visa and insurance, entrance tickets, lunches and dinners outside the programme, drinks and tips. A seasonal supplement of €200 applies to departures between 20 December and 5 January. The order of sightseeing may change for logistical reasons.
